Ennio Compagno, better known as Orfeo
in Murano, began to work as a very young boy at the
A.VE.M.
Glass furnace. As a young man he was recognized as one
of the most skilled glass masters in Murano. In the
magazine "Vetro" NR. 12 (summer 2001) he tells
Adrea Tosi about:
"... I worked at A.VE.M. for 31 years, then I went
to Pauly ...
My mentors at the time were Luciano Ferro and Giuseppe
Ferro, Vittorios'
father, whom I worked with side by side. ... I enjoyed
working at A.VE.M. with Professor Anzola
Fuga, at least two or tree hours a day, trying
out new samples, not only goblets but plates and vessels.
He was extraordinarily eclectic and knew glass like
a glassmaster in all its aspects...
Orfeo's specialty were blown goblets in the traditional
Murano style as you can see them on the web site, pieces
that require a very skilled and quick hand.
When he was presented with drawings he was always ready
to make them. He is able to make goblets in an infinitive
range of shape and colours, with applications in extreme
positions on the stem.
The collection on offer was made between Christmas and
New Year 2000, we are proud to present them to the public. |
