HALF-FILIGREE & INCALMO

Among the several designs of Zanfirico canes the most delicate is the half-filigree technique,
the final aspect of a glass piece made in this technique is
that of a piece completely "wrapped" in glass threads, all very close "packed" together.
Incalmo means to join two distinct blown glass semi-sphere which have
been blown to exactly the same size.
By attaching the two parts the glass master creates a single sphere ready for further manipulation.
The entire process is carried out with glass at high temperature exploiting
the property of hot glass and the skills of the glass masters.
Performed twice it is called "a dobble incalmo".
