'Pas de Deux' comes from the French technical ballet
term 'Pas de Deux' (Step for two), which is a 'dance
for two persons'. The term sounds elegant, and describes
precisely what the piece is attempting to depict. In
truth, it's about that moment when 'fools rush in'.
(The moment that hopefully two people have to share
and express their love for each other when both of them
realize that nothing will come between them.) It's a
rare moment. Sometimes it only lasts for a short time.
Yet, that is the definition of this piece. In a strange
sense, it's a rather innocent moment between two people...
who dare to ignore the realities of the world to acknowledge
that their passions take precedence over all possible
distractions.
Mauro Bonaventura and Pino Signoretto share a moment
like this, guided by their passion for glass but also
by their spirit of creativity. Their eyes begin to shine
when one of them expresses a new idea, which is immediately
picked up by the other; then through association and
discussion, they develop this spiritual moment, raising
technical questions about the new work of art. It is
a very private and intense dialogue, like the beginning
of a 'Pas de Deux, and if this moment is successful
they continue with their solo parts, first Pino Signoretto
in the glass furnace and then Mauro Bonaventura in his
studio, where they meet again to go through the final
processes together.
They love to work together, one feels inspired by the
other, they deploy their creativity and virtuosity,
offering us new wonders in glass.
They both say that this is a moment when they feel happy
and "rich". They can feel the inner richness
of their soul, something which can never be bought,
but only experienced through love.
In this first of what will hopefully be a series of
many more exhibitions in the future, we may admire the
'Pas de Deux' between Pino and Mauro, displaying our
admiration and respect for their "performance"
with a standing ovation and a lengthy applause.
