M.N. was born in 1947 in Venice, the city where he lives
and works.
In 1980, after experimenting with cinema and photography,
he collects and
research on 20th century Venetian Glass.
He then provides the photographs for a series of definitive
monographs on
modern glass at Murano, such as Ercole Barovier, Napoleone
Martinuzzi,
Carlo Scarpa, Fulvio Bianconi.
At the same time he starts designing his own pieces and
in early nineties he
devotes himself utterly to research and freelance production.
In these recent years he takes part at workshops in Pilchuck,
Niijima and
at the Centro Studio Vetro in Murano.
In 1996 he assists Roger Selden in the creation of the glass
panels at the
synagogue in Milan and his works are included to the annual
selection of the
Corning Museum of Glass in 1988, 2000 and 2006.
Among many personal and group shows at important international
galleries, we
find the personal shows "Avventurine" at the Correr
Museum in Venice, Italy and
"Zoodiac" at the Furukawa Art Museum in Nagoya,
Japan.

Statement:
Opacity, transparency, rhythm and how they interact are
the basic ingredients
in my aesthetics.
I think glass can meet the demand of my research and I use
its natural simple forms as a recipient.
Also cold work is used, at the condition that it does not
overwhelm the original texture and gesture of blowing.

Negli anni '80, dopo le sue esperienze nel cinema e fotografia,
comincia a
collezionare il vetro veneziano del XX secolo.
Firma le iconografie degli autori più importanti
del vetro moderno: Ercole
Barovier, Napoleone Martinuzzi, Carlo Scarpa, Fulvio Bianconi.
Allo stesso tempo comincia la progettazione dei suoi primi
lavori, ricerca
alla quale si dedicherà definitivamente nei primi
anni '90. Negli anni
recenti collabora ai corsi presso le scuole di Pilchuck
(USA), Niijima (Giappone) e il Centro Studio Vetro a Murano.
Nel 1996 assiste Roger Selden alla creazione dei pannelli
in vetro della Sinagoga di Milano e i suoi lavori sono inclusi
nelle selezione annuali 1988, 2000 e 2006 del Museo del
Vetro Corning.
Tra le frequenti mostre in prestigiose gallerie internazionali,
troviamo le personali "Avventurine" al Museo Correr

Così dice:
Opacità, trasparenza, ritmo e il loro rapporto sono
gli ingradienti base della mia estetica.
Penso che la materia vetro possa soddisfare la mia ricerca,
usando forma
semplici e naturali come contenitore.
Anche le tecniche di incisione sono usate alla condizione
che non prevalgano
sul tessuto originale e il gesto del soffiare.
